The Court of Appeal today further extended its interim order preventing Justice Ministry officials from
deducting the Advance Personal Income Tax from the monthly salaries of the High Court Judges until their writ petition is supported. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)

Everybody should be equally taxed who ever it may be. Even duty free facilities should be scrapped and equally taxed. You can’t expect tax being paid for others.

Our judicery must not make decision that affect them financially. There has to be conflict of interest as the persons granting the extension are benefit from it. It is just a trick to delay their tax payments. The judges could delay this on and on fifty years even, while the public then has to take up the burden of the missing taxes.

Can someone please explain how only one sector of public servants can move the courts for a tax exemption? Is there valid point of law?
