Indian medical team provides aid to cyclone-affected families in Badulla

Colombo, January 24 (Daily Mirror) - An Indian medical team from the city of Cochin, Kerala, has begun providing essential healthcare services to residents displaced by Cyclone Ditva and currently staying at the “Suraksha” camps in Sri Lanka’s Badulla district.

The team of five specialist doctors from the Sunrise Hospital Group arrived in Sri Lanka via Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake, on yesterday (23) at 4.15 p.m. 

They traveled on IndiGo flight 6E-1179 from Chennai and proceeded directly to Badulla to commence their humanitarian mission.

The medical visit was organized at the invitation of Deputy Minister of Tourism Ruwan Ranasinghe. Medical clinics conducted by the Indian specialists are scheduled for November 24 and 25. A further group of 25 medical personnel, including doctors from Lanka Hospital, Colombo, are also expected to take part in the programme.

All expenses related to the medical services, including the supply of medicines and patient care, are being fully borne by the Sunrise Hospitals Group of India. The initiative aims to provide much-needed medical relief to communities affected by the cyclone and currently living in temporary shelters.
