India reaffirms support for Sri Lanka at JVP–Jaishankar meeting



A meeting was held in New Delhi between Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) General Secretary Tilvin Silva, who led a delegation from Sri Lanka, and India’s Minister of External Affairs S. Jaishankar.

Discussions focused on further strengthening bilateral relations, exploring growth opportunities, and advancing social welfare initiatives between the two countries.

During the meeting, Minister Jaishankar reaffirmed India’s continued support for Sri Lanka, recalling the assistance extended during the recent economic crisis as well as in the aftermath of Cyclone Ditwah. He emphasized that India would continue to remain a trusted and reliable partner for Sri Lanka.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Jaishankar described the discussion as a warm interaction and said India has stood by Sri Lanka in challenging times and will continue to do so in the future.
