India donates 134 cabs to Sri Lanka police



Colombo, May 25 (Daily Mirror) - The Government of India today officially handed over a consignment of 134 single cabs donated to the Sri Lanka Police under the Indo–Sri Lanka Friendship Programme to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the Presidential Secretariat.

The donation, valued at approximately Rs. 300 million, is intended to strengthen policing services in the Northern Province, with the vehicles scheduled to be distributed among police stations in the region.

Speaking at the event, Indian High Commissioner Santosh Jha said India would continue to extend similar assistance to Sri Lanka in the future.

In appreciation of the donation, Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasooriya presented a commemorative memento to the Indian High Commissioner.

Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs Ananda Wijepala, Deputy Minister Sunil Watagala, Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security Ravi Seneviratne, General Manager of DIMO Rajeev Pandithage, officials of the Indian High Commission and senior officers of the Sri Lanka Police were also present at the occasion. pic by Kithsiri De Mel
