Imposter police officer arrested

Colombo, Jan. 16 (Daily Mirror) - A woman in police inspectors’ sports uniform idling near a lodge in the Pettah on Thursday evening (15) was questioned on suspicion by a team of police officers of the Colombo Central Division Crimes Investigation Unit to find that she was not a police officer. 

The imposter was arrested and further questioned to find in her possession a toy wodden pistol. She stated that she had lost her national identity card regarding which she had lodged a complaint with the Peradeniya police and produced a copy of the entry.

However, during investigations she produced her national identity card which she had in her possession.

Police said she was arrested on suspicion on the possibility of her involvement in illegal activities and that they initiated further investigations.

She was to be produced in court this morning.
