COLOMBO (Daily Mirror) - Attorney-at-law Kalinga Indatissa (PC) yesterday informed Maligakanda Magistrate Lochani Abeywickrama that the mastermind of the case of importing substandard vials of immunoglobulin and distributing them to government hospitals is in the cabinet and challenged the Criminal Investigations Department to arrest him if they can.
Attorney-at-law Indatissa who represented the suspect in this incident also said that no matter what the court thinks, the two people involved in this crime would not be arrested by the police.
Claiming that without arresting the real culprits for not following the tender procedure PC Indatissa questioned why his client was arrested who innocently followed the proper tender procedure without arresting him.
Taking into consideration the facts presented, the magistrate rejected the suspect's bail request and remanded him in custody until November 29.

What no one in Sri Lanka has, is the integrity to speak out the name of the “mystery” country from which all the substandard medicines and related products have been coming into Sri Lanka.

Importing inferior quality is news in the papers for months.but no solution to stop.why? May be inferior medicine is imported to inferior quality tenders since Govts does not sufficient funds to import superior quality medicine for never ending unlimited patients per day. No solution it will go on like this

In Sri Lanka, even the orders given by a Magistrate are ignored by corrupt Police and CID. According to the Defendant's lawyer, the Mastermind of this corrupt affair and the Minister of Police are both in the Cabinet. President Ranil Rajapaksa appears to be very happy to keep these Ministers in his Cabinet.
