IP knocked down by woman sergeant
The OIC of the Kebithigollewa Division Crime Investigation Unit who had been knocked down by a motorcar driven by a Woman Police Sergeant (WPS) and admitted to the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital in critical condition died in the early hours of this morning.
Police said, the victim IP B. Sunil Chandrasiri was a resident of Namalwewa in Mihintale.
The IP who was riding a motorcycle had been knocked down by WPS driven motorcar at Welankulama junction on the Anuradhapura-Trincomalee A12 highway on October 08, and was under treatment at the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries this morning.
The WPS of the Ambanpola police who caused the accident was released on bail after being produced before the Anuradhapura Magistrate’s court.
