IMF team to visit Sri Lanka for sixth tranche review

Colombo, March 14 (Daily Mirror) - A team of representatives from the International Monetary Fund is scheduled to visit Sri Lanka later this month for review discussions ahead of the sixth tranche of the country’s Extended Fund Facility programme.

Deputy Minister Anil Jayantha Fernando said the visit will focus on assessing the government’s progress in meeting the conditions attached to the IMF-supported economic reform programme.

Sri Lanka has so far received five tranches under the IMF facility. During the upcoming visit, the IMF team is expected to carry out a comprehensive review of the steps taken by the government to meet the programme’s economic targets and policy commitments.

Fernando said discussions during the review will also cover the country’s economic performance and reforms implemented under the agreement with the IMF.

Following the evaluation, necessary agreements are expected to be reached regarding the release of the sixth tranche of the IMF funding programme.
