Parliament, Nov. 28 (Daily Mirror)- Former Minister of Sports Roshan Ranasinghe said today that he did submit a Cabinet paper to distribute lands to some parties but they were not his political associates.

“The media has reported today that I have submitted a Paper to the Cabinet to distribute lands to my political henchmen. This is wrong as there were no henchmen of mine among those in the list of people to whom lands were to be distributed. I only proposed handing over some lands to those who wanted to set up filling stations and to provide lands for a temple for cultivation,” the former Minister said.

MP Jagath Samawawickrama who responded at that time said a request made by him for a plot of land to set up a filling station was not included in the Cabinet Paper.

“They would have said I am giving lands to my friends if I had included your request,” the former Minister said.

Also, MP Ranasinghe denied reports that he became speechless when the President questioned him on matters including his meeting with the Leader of the Opposition and the Indian High Commissioner.

“I did not become speechless but answered the President,” he said.
