Heavy rains likely after 2 pm today too

Thundershowers will occur in most parts of the country after 2 pm today as well, the forecasting division of the National Meteorological Centre said.

It said heavy showers above 75 mm are likely at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western Provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.

Showers may occur in the Eastern Province and in the southern coastal areas even in the morning, the Meteorological Centre said.

Therefore, the department requests the public to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary, localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
