Colombo, June 27 (Daily Mirror) - The Meteorology Department has forecast continued rainy and windy conditions across several parts of the country over the next 36 hours, with fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm expected in some areas.
According to the latest weather forecast issued at 4.00 p.m. today (27), showers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North Western provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts. Fairly heavy falls above 50 mm are likely at some places in these areas.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva Province and in the Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 2.00 p.m.
The department also warned that fairly strong winds of 30 to 40 kmph can be expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills, and in the Northern, North Central, North Western and Southern provinces, as well as in the Trincomalee District.
The public has been advised to take adequate precautions to minimise damage caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
