Heavy influx of pilgrims and tourists at Sripadastana

Colombo, March 2 (Daily Mirror) - Heavy influx of pilgrims and tourists turned up at Sripadastana yesterday with the advent of the long weekend.

The Nallathanniya police said over 100,000 pilgrims and tourists had arrived last morning. Police said the most number of pilgrims during a weekend since the commencement of the Sripada pilgrim season was experienced this weekend which included the Medin full moon Poya.

All vehicle parks in the Nallathanniya town were full to capacity and thousands of vehicles had been parked by the roadside to a distance of about six kilometers up to Riverston along the Nallathanniya- Maskeliya road.

Heavy congestion prevailed at several locations including Indikatu pana and Mahagiri dambe on the Sripada pilgrim route.

The relevant authorities including Nallathanniya police had taken steps to provide adequate facilities to the crowd.
