Health Ministry warns nursing officers of transfer scams

Colombo, July 8 (Daily Mirror) - The Health and Mass Media Ministry has warned nursing officers against a suspected racket involving the collection of personal information and money from officers seeking annual transfers for 2026.

The Ministry said reports have been received that certain individuals are obtaining details of nursing officers who have applied for transfers and demanding payments while claiming they can facilitate transfer arrangements.

The Ministry said that nursing officer transfers are carried out only by the Ministry of Health and Mass Media or the relevant Provincial Health Ministries through official procedures.

It advised nursing officers not to provide personal information to any third party unless requested in writing by an authorised official of the relevant ministries.

The Ministry also urged officers to refrain from paying money or offering any form of bribe to individuals claiming they can secure transfers, warning that it will not be responsible for any fraudulent transactions, bribery or related scams.
