The government has decided to provide budget allocations for the year 2024 by prioritizing the projects that can contribute to the achievement of the government's 2048 development goals.

Cabinet Minister Bandula Gunawardane said the currently ongoing projects will be prioritized according to their contributions to the current economic crisis until foreign funds can be utilized.

A report in this regard was presented by the President in his capacity as Finance Minister, Economic Stabilization and National Policies on the progress achieved by 202 large-scale development projects implemented by line ministries by the end of the second quarter of 2023.

"It was revealed that the progress of many projects was lower than expected by the end of the second quarter of 2023 due to the inability to use the related foreign funds and the limited release of local funds until completion of the debt restructuring process," Minister Gunawardane said. Thirty years I saw a person below the Bo tree near the Olcott Mw bus stand, standing on the back side of a pick up truck, holdings microphone and shouting " I will make Sri Lanka like Singapore within fifteen years". All because, "Mithrayo MaRa A.K.A Messiah and fondly APPACHCHI", slashed unabashedly all known revenue sources – Sugar Tax Scam, Income Tax Personal and Business, Customs duty as examples – without Rhyme or Reason, economically, irresponsible manner as Finance Minister causing irreparable Revenue Loss, rendering the government, unsustainable financial state!!!??? This action incapacitated to render any and all help to the public in need!!!??? That was in October 2019/July 2022 under the Presidency of Gota and presumably tacit approval!!??

When you can't prepare a budget to last 365 days how on earth can you dream of 2048. Non of the allocations made for some entities are even given to them and after 6 months ask for supplements.

This is known as Corporate Plan for 20 years. Every time a five year budget is prepared based on the guidelines of this plan, the cumulative period is pushed forward by adding five years. In other words, you have a set plan for 20 years, and you have to move up along that plan to reach that goal. In the meantime more new goals are added down the line without conflict to the main goal. Look up to USA. This is very common.
