Govt. refutes reports of VIP security for 11 individuals

Colombo, July 14 (Daily Mirror) - Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa today dismissed reports claiming that VIP security had been provided to 11 individuals, including several parliamentarians and monks.

Responding to a question at the weekly Cabinet media briefing, the Minister said no special security arrangements had been granted to the individuals named in the reports.

The reports had claimed that VIP security had been assigned to Asoka Ranwala, Mohamed Rizvie Salih, Sarath Kumara, Ajith Shantha, Ruwan Wijeweera, Thilanka U. Gamage, Sunil Biyanwila, Dinesh Hemantha, Ranjith Madduma Bandara, H.A. Dharmasena and Ven. Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero.

Dr. Jayatissa said the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of VIP Security had informed the Inspector General of Police that no special or VIP security had been provided to any of the individuals concerned.
