Colombo, Feb. 23 (Daily Mirror) - Deputy Minister of Mass Media Dr. Kaushalya Ariyaratne said the government is committed to easing the heavy financial burden faced by parents in educating their children.
Speaking at a recent event, Dr. Ariyaratne said that reducing the pressure on parents is a key policy of the government and forms part of its broader education reforms.
She said that the reforms go beyond general education and also focus on strengthening special education.
Highlighting the importance of inclusion, she said that persons with disabilities must be fully integrated into society and made active contributors to the country’s development.
“We are not leaving anyone behind. This is a journey towards development by bringing together all those whose rights have been violated,” she said.
Dr. Ariyaratne further pointed out that the government has allocated significant funds in the national budget for education, health, and public transportation, highlighting these sectors as top priorities.
She also said that decisions are taken collectively within the government. “We do not make individual decisions. We are a collective government,” she added.
