Colombo, Dec.23 (Daily Mirror) - The government has given high priority to construct housing complexes for people displaced by cyclone Ditwah, Minister of Environment Dhammika Patabedi said today.
He told reporters that the government is ready to provide them with Rs. 10 million for construction of a house and purchasing of a land but prioritises construction of housing complexes in suitable locations.
The Minister said the government has initiated discussions with affected people in relocating them in housing complexes in locations with public facilities.
He said the government will not approve any unauthorised constructions hereafter, claiming that such constructions had been approved in the past due to political connections.
