Colombo,January 22 (Daily Mirror)- The Government has decided to go ahead with the power tarrif reduction recommended by the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL), ruling party MP Samanmalee Gunasinghe informed Parliament today.

We salute the bold officials of the Public Utilities Commision of Sri Lanka for recommending a reduction in electricity tariffs. Can the minister explain why he stated in the parliament that not only the electricity tariffs can't be reduced but increased? Again, this shows the lack of experience of the NPP in governance. A very ominous future lies ahead for Sri Lankans.

WARREN, OFFICIALS OF THE PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION MAY HAVE STOOGES AND OR SUPPORTERS OF THE WIPED OUT CORRUPT POLITICIANS AND JUST TRYING TO BRING THE GOVT DOWN. DID THEY GIVE THIS SAME ADVICE TO THE PREVIOUS GOVT, WHEN THE TARIFFS WERE HIGH AND PEOPLE STRUGGLING TO PAY THEIR BILLS AND PUT FOOD ON THE TABLE??. WARREN HAS PROVED HE IS NOT A SUPPORTER OF ANURA/NPP PERIOD. WHY DID HE NOT CRY OUT ABOUT REDUCING TARIFFS WHEN THE LAST GOVT WAS IN POWER??.

NPP Government should not be dictated by people working in the Electricity Board. If PUCSL has recommended a reduction in power tariff reduction, and if the Minister of Finance signs, that should be done.

This 20% tariff reduction is recommended by PUCSL when NPP government proposed not reduce electricity prices. Now where is the 1/3 electricity price reduction AKD promised before the presidential election? AKD and NPP govt must apologize to the nation for deceiving voters.

Good! Now stop the 150/- per liter ‘kommis’ going to the minister and reduce the fuel from 1st February! At least uphold that pledge made during presidential elections when we celebrate independence! Or is the ‘kommis’ going to the party fund now?

Sir for years we see this in phones and papersetc.But when we see the electricity bills only a very very small amount is reduced compared to what is said.
