Colombo, Dec.8 (Daily Mirror) - The new electricity bill pertaining to the restructuring of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has been gazetted.

This bill includes proposals related to the restructuring of the CEB, and the electricity sector.

Hope this is based on improving the efficiency of these institutions and not politics. Definitely there will be resistance but we need to move forward as a nation not the petty party interest. The last line is for the JVP and the other left parties.

Not interested in reading your Gazette new Electricity Bill?? Another increase. People will have to remove 2 sleeping fans used in the night.If not removed we will be using it.Atleast to save electricity . Sir if u are increasing like this no point commenting on this subject.

Get this place revamped. Same for CPC, Water Board, and Harbour too which are full of over-staffed cronies doing nothing consuming 85% costs as salaries.

People will no longer trust CEB whether it is restructured or not. Under the new structure they will increase the tariff further so that people will resort to using candle light.

These particular restructuring measures mean that the IMF-induced privatization is being taken forward in the guise of restructuring. Undoubtedly, this is also part of a PLOT by the US that led His Excellency Gotabaya Rajapaksa out of power.

CEB SLTB and other instructions should not aim at making superfluous profits. They must try to minimise losses and offer least possible charges to reduce their productions. As a result be competitive with the global market and investors enhance exports. The gain from these exports off set the institutions losses
