GMOA provides medical support for Kataragama Pada Yatra devotees

The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has once again stepped in to provide medical assistance to devotees participating in the annual “Pada Yatra” pilgrimage to the Kataragama sacred site.

For many years, the Eastern Province branch of the GMOA has been providing essential healthcare services and emergency medical treatment to devotees taking part in the annual pilgrimage from the Eastern Province to Kataragama on a voluntary basis.

As part of this year’s programme, the GMOA donated a stock of essential medicines and medical equipment required by the medical team. A symbolic handover ceremony of the medicines was held recently at the GMOA headquarters.

GMOA President Dr. Chandika Epitakaduwa, Secretary Dr. Bandara Warakagoda and Assistant Secretary Dr. Hansamal Weerasuriya attended the event representing the association’s executive committee.
