Four incidents of rape involving underage girls have been reported today from the Buttala, Wedekumbura, Kudaoya and Wellawaya police areas in the Moneragala district.

A 13 year old school girl of Katugahagalge in Buttala had been abducted and raped by a young man and the suspect was arrested on April 27 during investigations of her mother’s complaint that she had gone missing after she went to school on April 19.

Investigations revealed that she had been in love with her elder sister’s lover and had eloped with him. The 25 year old young man had taken her to a lodge in Wellwaya area and raped her for about a week and later at a lodge in the Awissawella area. Buttala police are conducting further investigations.

A 15 year old school girl of Wedikumbura in the Moneragala police area had been raped by her 17 year old lover. Her parents told police that they warned the girl to give up relations with the young man, but she had eloped with him. Investigations revealed that they had lived as husband and wife at a house in the Medagama area.

A police team under HQI Moneragala Police P.S. Chaminda is conducting investigations to arrest the young man.

In another incident, a 15 year old schoolgirl of Thelulla in Ethiliwewa in the Kaduaoya police area had been raped and impregnated by a 22 year old man. When she complained of stomach ache she was admitted to hospital where she had delivered a child.

Investigations revealed that she had been in love with the young man since June 2023 and that he had raped her at times when she was alone in the house. The suspect was arrested by Kudaoya police.

OIC Kudaoya police S.T.M. Riyaz is conducting further investigations.

Meanwhile an individual who raped his 12 year old daughter was taken into custody by the Wellawaya police. The 47 year old suspect was produced before court and remanded till May 07. Police had initiated investigations on information received through the police emergency service 119 and arrested him.

The victim told police that her father took her to a room when she was alone at home and raped her. She had revealed it to a friend who informed the police emergency service.

Our legal experts should not depend on what is coming out of London , they must become creative on their own. There is a vast difference between any woman young or old being victim of non-consensus sex and consensus sex between man and woman with woman being underaged. Both are serious crimes but not at the same level of criminality. Rape is a very emotive term , actually this should only apply to non-consensus sex, consensus but underaged sex should not be called rape, if the victim is just one or two years below the age of consent ,it should be called “ Illegal Sex Due To Age “

All those cases mentioned above are not rape but incidents of sexual desire between lovers. Except for the 47y old man raping a minor of 12y which is criminal. All the other cases are loose behavior by undisciplined youngsters.

Come on! Except the last one, these are not called rape just because they engaged in sexual relationship. They have done this as lovers and obviously with consent! Remember the differences between sexual relationship with consent and without consent before mentioning the term "Rape" just because they have engaged in such sexual relationship before the age of consent!

What if a couple has been married with the girls parents consent? Religiously with or without registering their marriage. You still accuse it as rape or something? Stop judging!

All these incidents reveals THREE things. 1) People are NOT afraid of LAW. 2) Law enforcing authorities are lethargic. 3) People are becoming animals.

Lowering the age of marriage would solve 90% of the issues except the father and daughter case. Age limit of marriage is arbitrary and scientific reasons. We just follow the whites or others blindly

Only case involves minors are 17 year boy and 15 year old girl. Since both are minors, court can do nothing. In all others, those over 18 will have face the wrath of the law. An interesting case in the UK, after seeing a top less image of an underage girl lover of his underage son's phone, a mother called in the Police. She feared here son will be in trouble for receiving that image from his school mate. The Police promptly called the girls along with her parents and warned for sharing indecent images via online.
