Four arrested over shooting at Wattala birthday party

Colombo, July 24 (Daily Mirror) - Four suspects, including two women, have been arrested for allegedly aiding and abetting the fatal shooting that occurred in the Palliyawatta area of Kadirana, Wattala.

According to Police Media Spokesman Assistant Superintendent of Police F.U. Wootler, the suspects will be produced before the Fort Magistrate’s Court to obtain detention orders to facilitate further investigations.

He also said that five police teams have been deployed to investigate the shooting.

The incident occurred yesterday (23) when a gunman opened fire at a child’s birthday party in Palliyawatta, Wattala, killing a 39-year-old man.

According to police, the shooting was allegedly aimed at a suspected drug trafficker known as “Kudu Roshan” from Mattakkuliya. However, the gunman is believed to have missed the intended target and fatally shot a 39-year-old bystander who was standing nearby.
