Former Envoy Kananathan salutes Liberia on 179th Independence Day, signals renewable energy partnership initiative



Colombo, July 26 (Daily Mirror) - Former Envoy Ambassador Kananathan has extended his warmest congratulations today to His Excellency President Joseph Nyuma Boakai,  the Government, and the people of the Republic of Liberia on the occasion of the country’s 179th Independence Day.

In his message, Kananathan commended Liberia’s enduring legacy as Africa’s oldest republic and expressed his admiration for the resilience, unity, and determination of the Liberian people in advancing peace, democracy, and national development.

“As Liberia celebrates this important national milestone, I extend my sincere best wishes to President Boakai and all Liberians. Kananathan said . 

Kananathan also reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening ties with Liberia through sustainable development initiatives. He noted that he is currently in the process of initiating a renewable energy project in Liberia, aimed at supporting the country’s clean energy transition, promoting economic growth, and expanding access to sustainable power solutions.

He expressed confidence that the planned initiative would contribute to Liberia’s long-term development goals while fostering innovation, investment, and international cooperation in the renewable energy sector.
