A total of five office trains were cancelled this morning due to railway guards not reporting for duties, the Railway Station Masters’ Union said.

They said the trains were cancelled by 9 a.m.

Accordingly, it has been reported that several scheduled office train services will be cancelled in the afternoon and evening. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)

Sunday evening a passenger getting down from Seethawaka Odyssey at Cotta road station fell flat on her face as the platform was pitch dark. Badly bruised but no station staff to help her. Trade unionists should be chased out from these white elephants and railway dept privatised.

I see some calling for privatization of the Sri Lanka Railway. If it happens more than half of the present travelers will not be able to afford train travel.
