Fishermen warned of rough seas



Colombo, June 10 (Daily Mirror) - The Department of Meteorology has warned of very rough sea conditions and strong winds in several coastal areas around Sri Lanka.

According to the latest advisory, sea areas extending from Kankasanthurai to Kalpitiya via Mannar are expected to be very rough at times, with strong gusty winds reaching speeds of 60 to 70 kmph.

As a result, fishing and naval communities have been strongly advised not to venture into these waters due to the prevailing hazardous conditions.

Meanwhile, sea areas off the coasts stretching from Trincomalee to Kankasanthurai via Mullaittivu and from Kalpitiya to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota are expected to be rough at times, accompanied by strong gusty winds of 50 to 60 kmph.
