An expatriate Financial and Tax Consultant of Sri Lanka living in Washington DC sued a Sri Lankan lawyer for Rs. 100,000,000 over alleged professional negligence in executing a deed by the lawyer and the purchaser of a property of the plaintiff for Rs. 6,000,000 for alleged illegal ejectment of the plaintiff and his staff from the purchased premises at Perahera Mawatha, Colombo 2.
The plaintiff Kosala G. Tantula sued lawyer B.K. Shaminda Jayasekera and the purchaser Dinuka Jayamal Earnest Fonseka for Rs 100,000,000 and Rs. 6,000,000, respectively, for professional negligence by not registering the notarial deed in the concerned folio at the Land Registry and the purchase for forcibly ejecting the occupancy of the plaintiff and his staff from the purchased premises while a valid deed was in force.
The Colombo District Court issued summons on the defendants to appear before the court. (T. Farook Thajudeen)
