Education Ministry urges university staff to end strike



Colombo, May 28 (Daily Mirror) - The Education Ministry today requested THE university non-academic staff unions to end their ongoing strike, return to work and present their issues to the expert committee appointed by the President.

While issuing a special notice, the Ministry said that a committee had been appointed to investigate into the issues relating to the university non-academic staff salary disparity since 2018.

Therefore, the Ministry requested all university non-academic staff to submit their issues and recommendations to the expert committee without disrupting university services.

Since there is no system to secure funding for this year, the Education Ministry said that the President had advised the Cabinet to appoint an expert committee to study the salary anomalies of all university non-academic staff to provide recommendations, including all solutions and proposals related to these issues in the 2025 budget proposals.
