Colombo, Dec. 22 (Daily Mirror) - Claiming that the draft bill on the Prevention of Terrorism is not final, Justice Minister Harshana Nanayakkara said today the draft bill will be amended after considering the public comments and suggestions before it is submitted to the Cabinet or Parliament.
The Minister said the draft Bill, which was drafted by a committee headed by President’s Counsel (PC) Rienzie Arsecularatne, is uploaded in the Justice Ministry website in all three languages and that people can submit their comments and suggestions until February 28, 2026.
He said the public comments and suggestions on the draft bill will be submitted to the same committee that drafted the Bill for making necessary amendments based on the public comments and suggestions.
The Minister invited individuals, groups or organisations to submit their suggestions as it is important in drafting a more sensitive Act.
