Colombo, Jan. 13 (Daily Mirror) - The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) today (13) launched a strike across all state hospitals in the Eastern Province, demanding the removal of the Medical Superintendent of the Akkaraipattu Base Hospital.
The GMOA said the trade union action was initiated over alleged administrative and financial irregularities at the hospital, and called for the appointment of a new official to the post.
The strike is affecting services at two general hospitals, one teaching hospital, 17 base hospitals, 52 district hospitals and 113 primary medical care centres across the province.
