Doctor arrested over sexual abuse of patient in Kahathuduwa

Colombo, Nov. 24 (Daily Mirror) - A 40-year-old doctor has been arrested for sexually abusing a 26-year-old woman at the Wethara District Hospital in Kahathuduwa.
In a police complaint the woman said that she had come to the Out Patients’ Department (OPD) of the hospital on November 12 to obtain treatment and that she had been asked to get a urine test done and come again on November 19.
Police said according to the complaint, the woman had arrived at the OPD on November 19 with the urine report and the doctor had taken her to a room without the assistance of a female assistant and had sexually abused her while pretending to check her.
Police arrested the doctor today after both parties were summoned for an investigation.
