Colombo, Dec. 3 (Daily Mirror) - The death toll in the aftermath of Cyclone Ditwah that ravaged the country last week has risen to 465, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) revealed in its update this morning.
The highest number of deaths were reported from the Kandy district, where 118 people lost their lives.
The number of missing persons stood at 366 -- a majority of that number coming from the Matale district.
Furthermore, over 1.5 million have been affected by the cyclone and the ensuing floods, the DMC also revealed with 232,752 people from over 61,000 families currently housed in safety centres.
