Parliament, Dec.4 (Daily Mirror)- Claiming that an internal investigation has been launched into the death of a child at a children's detention centre in Kalmunai, State Minister Geetha Kumarasinghe said the female warden of the detention centre had not received any vocational training.

She told Parliament that the warden in question had passed the relevant examinations but had not received any vocational training.

The Minister said steps will be taken to train all the wardens at the detention centres in the country.

"Passing the examinations alone is not sufficient. The wardens should be given special training to handle matters related to children," she said.
