Deadline extended for public complaints over CMC corruption probe



Colombo, Feb. 23 (Daily Mirror) - The deadline for submitting public complaints and information to the Presidential Commission of Inquiry to investigate into alleged acts of corruption, fraud, criminal breach of trust etc. has been extended until 16 March 2026.

The President’s Media Division (PMD) said any written complaints or information relating to the above may be submitted in Sinhala, Tamil or English to the Secretary of the Commission at No. 152, Galle Road, Colombo 03.

All submissions must include the name, address, contact telephone number and National Identity Card number or passport number of the person providing the complaint or information. 

If the individual does not wish to have his or her identity disclosed, a request to that effect may be made.

Institutions or individuals wishing to make oral submissions to the Commission may obtain an appointment on or before 16 March 2026 by calling 011 2 301 735, the PMD said.

The President appointed the Presidential Commission of Inquiry appointed to investigate into alleged acts of corruption, fraud, criminal breach of trust, misuse or abuse of power, state resources and privileges, unlawful recruitments and appointments, violations of procurement guidelines, irregularities in leasing or renting out immovable or movable property and legal proceedings and settlements conducted outside due procedures, as well as the serious losses and damages caused to state assets or revenue as a result of the above actions within the Colombo Municipal Council from 2010 to 2025.
