Is there anything called free lunch ?

Just another election gimmick, well timed for the May Day. We know what a struggle it was to increase the daily wage from Rs 700/= per day to Rs 1,000/=.

Positive happenings in the country indicate that the presidential election will be held surely on time.

Giving bait to the poor to win an election. I hope the poor now understand these gimmicks

if it is implemented then it is absolutely justified. Of course one expects Plantation companies to drag their feet.

Slime ball Ranil playing his cards before Election Day. As usual nothing sincere in his approach other than to buy votes. Cares shut for people and what they go through.

ha haa ...hoping to get the votes of the gullible estate workers. This was long overdue anyway

Gazette in one thing, RPC's have to concur and agree to this decision. Historically they are not willing to adhere to such push button tactics. Another election gundu!

Issuing Gazette and then reversing it has continued even under Ranil. What action will Ranil take if the plantation companies do not pay workers these increased wages? He has to say this in the open.

The company’s were reluctant to pay even Rs 1000 enforced by the previous government and this just to deceive the poor estate worker. Hope the estate worker will not fall for this dirty tricks Ranil Rajapaksha

With proper Union leadership, these exploited workers could bring the estate owners to their knees. Enough is enough ! The people doing all the hard work in this country are the one's starving. Let’s see where the estate owners will get labour prepared to walk up and down steep hills all day, with loads on their backs for Rupees $1700. These workers have sold themselves “short”.

How can a minister or the president go and state that plantation worker's daily was increased when their salaries are paid by companies and not the government. Election promises that will never take place.
