Curfew until 6.00 am tomorrow

The curfew which is currently in force will be lifted at 6.00 am tomorrow (13), the President Media Division said. They said the curfew will be re-imposed at 2.00 pm tomorrow and will remain until 6.00 am on Saturday (14).

Accordingly, no person is allowed on any public road, railway, public park, public recreation ground or other public ground or the seashore, except under the authority of a written permit granted by an authorised officer.

The curfew was imposed accordance with the provisions of Section 16 of the Public Security Ordinance after situation turned violent near Temple Trees as a group of supporters of former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa started attacking the peaceful protesters outside the 'MainaGoGama'on May 9.
