The Fort Magistrate has issued an order preventing a group of protesters from engaging in protests in the Fort Police area from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. today.
The order follows facts submitted by the Colombo Fort Police who received information that the protesters were planning to hold protests along several roads in Fort and attempting to enter the President's Office and several other buildings, the police said.
The Fort Police sought the order citing that there could be unrest between protesters and the general public if the scheduled protests were held.
The Magistrate then ordered protesters not to block the roads causing inconvenience to the public and motorists and also prevented them from entering the President's Office, President's House, Finance Ministry and Galle Face areas and also not to cause damages to the public properties.
