Couple wanted over murder arrested while trying to flee to Dubai

A couple who wanted over a murder in the Mount Lavinia area had been arrested by the police at the Katunayake airport when they tried to flee to Dubai last night.

Police said the couple was wanted by the police over a murder in which a man was killed in Mount Lavinia on July 27.

The Mount Lavinia Police had informed the Airport Police after information was received that the suspects were preparing to flee to Dubai.

Accordingly, a temporary travel ban had been imposed against the suspects by the Airport Immigration Department officials.

Police said the suspects were arrested after they arrived at the airport to board flight EK-653 of Emirates Airlines departing for Dubai.

The 31-year-old man and 19-year-old woman have been arrested by the Katunayake Police and were handed over to the Mount Lavinia Police for further investigations.(DSB)

Looks like Dubai is the safest destination for all the criminals. Dubai authorities should be careful in issuing visas.
