Colombo, Jan. 19 (Daily Mirror) - Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said today that he could have saved the life of former Minister Nandana Gunatileke if he had been informed of his condition earlier.

“I was informed by a friend living abroad about Nandana Gunatileke’s condition. By then, he had already been transferred from Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital to the Ragama Hospital. I would have done more to save his life if I had known about his condition earlier,” Premadasa said after paying his last respects to the late politician.

“Late Gunatileke was a controversial figure,” he added.

Sajith, please don't create splits in politics. You could not have saved Nandana as the date of death is decided even before he was born. Even if you gave best treatment, force of death will come through some other way.

Forget all controversy. One cannot but feel sorry for this gentle politician who should be allowed to change his political affiliation as we all live in a democracy. The way he is treated my some his ex-colleagues is clearly not on. One gets a taste of his original party the way he is being treated when he changed the sides. A person is a human being first and then a politician. He doesn’t become a traitor or anything like that just because he changed his politics. May he attain the noble bliss of nibbana!
