Confusion over data on paddy harvest in 2024: Trade Minister

Parliament, January 23 (Daily Mirror)- There is a confusion with regard to data pertaining to the paddy harvest in 2024, Minister of Trade Wasantha Samarasinghe told Parliament today.

"A harvest of 4.9 million metric tonnes in the Maha season is not possible," the Minister said.

He assured to come up with a statement with regard to the issue within the course of the day.

The Minister was referring to MP Harsha de Silva who pointed out the confusion in the data.

The allegation that one million metric tonnes have gone missing was rejected by the Minister.

What happened to this guys kappam case related to a building matter. Is it under the carpet because he is a minister now. This guy is the most corrupt, a failure as a minister to solve problems and also a liar. He is using an expensive land rover with public money too. Go home Wasantha. We, SriLankans can let you only one harvesting season,from the beginning of February you should show the results , all other parties except NPP allow to come with excuses,but NPP is not ,if failed, that would be your turning point, you have been voted not to travel in luxury of Range Rover but to serve the upeople, and their tolerance have a limit,
