Colombo, Feb. 4 (Daily Mirror) - Colonialism has become active in a different form in Sri Lanka and other countries in the Southern Hemisphere, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said today.

Speaking during a ceremony held at Dharamakeerthirama in Polwatte, Kollupitiya to mark the 78th anniversary of independence, Premadasa said colonialism is now indirect unlike in the past.

“Colonialism has become active in a different form in Sri Lanka and other countries in the Southern Hemisphere. It is active in different sectors of the society such as the economy and culture. This colonialism has to be defeated,” he said.

Dear Opposition leader, spot on but who was to blame? Since 1948, the racism denied the freedom to the minorities and as a result, minorities had to flee. First India then China and now US trying to fish in the muddied water. It’s our failure and still racism is trying its best, to raise its head to continue destroys the nation. Singapore is an example where racism was destroyed and progressed.

It is sad to note the elderly Sinhala folk still maintain the Master, Servant culture. Their style of speaking to subordinates are very derogatory and action must be taken to educate them. We are all equal and begin to speak in the First Name, irrespective of their status.
