Circular issued on Friday closure of govt. offices annulled

The circular issued directing all government offices to function only for four days a week and declaring Fridays as holidays, has been annulled with immediate effect, as public transport is being normalised.

Earlier, cabinet approval was granted following a meeting held on June 13 to not open government offices on Fridays as a remedy to the difficulties experienced by the state sector employees to find transport facilities due to the existing fuel shortage as well as a remedy to the food scarcity in the future.

Circular number 15/2022 was issued by the Public Administration Ministry, inclusive of the said instructions, with a validity period of three months.

However, the cabinet ministers had approved the resolution forwarded by the Prime Minister as the Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government Minister to cancel the above circular with immediate effect, considering that public transport is being normalised by now and a sufficient period of time has been allocated to engage in preliminary activities applicable to the agricultural activities.
