CSE ends trading session on mixed performance

The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) experienced a volatile trading session today, with both the All Share Price Index (ASPI) and the S&P SL20 Index reflecting mixed momentum. By market close, the ASPI posted a marginal gain of 2.71 points (+0.01%) to end at 19,975.50, while the S&P SL20 Index declined by 10.92 points (-0.19%) to close at 5,815.64. Market turnover reached LKR 4.47 billion, with a total share volume of 136.44 million shares traded. Crossings accounted for LKR 0.723 billion, or approximately 16% of the total turnover, with PKME.N leading in both turnover and volume from crossings, recording LKR 0.519 billion and 5.17 million shares traded.

The Transportation sector emerged as the top contributor to sectoral turnover, accounting for nearly 18% of the day’s total. Market breadth was evenly split, with 105 companies contributing positively to the ASPI and 105 companies contributing negatively. Among the top gainers, CTC.N posted a turnover of LKR 44.53 million from 27,835 shares traded, while DIAL.N, HNB.N, PKME.N, and LLUB.N also provided notable support to the index.

On the downside, SAMP.N weighed on market performance, posting a turnover of LKR 44.36 million from 309,194 shares traded, alongside declines in CFIN.N, HAYL.N, COMB.N, and JKHS.N. Notable activity was also recorded in JKH.N, with a high number of trades executed, while EAST.N saw a sharp price appreciation of 14.71%, emerging as one of the day’s standout performers.
