CMC to offer free rabies vaccinations and pet services

Colombo, July 10 (Daily Mirror) - The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) will participate in Pet Expo 2026 with a special stall offering free rabies vaccinations, pet registration services and awareness programmes on animal welfare.

The event will be held at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), Colombo, from July 17 to 19.

The CMC said pet owners and animal welfare advocates visiting the stall will have access to free rabies vaccinations for dogs and cats, while also receiving information on registering pets with the municipal council.

The stall will also showcase the CMC’s animal welfare and coexistence programmes, including scientific dog population management, community animal care initiatives and efforts to create a rabies-free Colombo.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to consult the council’s veterinary team on pet health, municipal regulations and responsible pet ownership.

The CMC said its participation aims to promote a safer, healthier and more compassionate environment for pets and community animals in the city.
