CID complaint over false assassination claim against Namal

Colombo, August 21 (Daily Mirror) - A complaint has been lodged with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) regarding a false social media report alleging that MP Namal Rajapaksa was involved in planning an assassination.

The complaint was filed this morning (21) by a group of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) members.

Speaking to the media, an SLPP representative said the false claims were being circulated via a YouTube channel.

“The channel alleges that MP Namal Rajapaksa is plotting to assassinate an individual currently in remand custody, using underworld links to help the SLPP regain power. We categorically reject these baseless allegations,” he said.

It may be possible that no evidence to prove the allegation against Namal. But knowing the Rajapakse family, I would not surprise if this guy made such assignation threat. Remember what they have done to Thajudin and many others, whom Rajapakse did not like.
