Colombo, Dec 22 (Daily Mirror) - The Ministry of Power and Energy has issued directives to the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) to suspend all planned power interruptions for non-essential maintenance work on weekends and during the holiday season.
In an X post, Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijeseker said this decision comes after a comprehensive review of consumer complaints regarding frequent power interruptions for maintenance purposes.
The Ministry, in consultation with the General Manager of CEB, will introduce updated guidelines that align with international benchmarks for planned power interruptions during maintenance work. The focus is on minimizing disruptions to the public and ensuring a reliable and uninterrupted supply of electricity.

People! Expect a lightning strike in multiple transformers. Our ‘Shahodarayas’ knows transformers better than those who invented them! At least it’s lightning- not bicycle chains! Some progress!

In our area in the deep south, we experience a few power interruptions, almost every day. Fortunately, many of them do not last more than a few minutes. Nevertheless they are inconveniences alright.
