CBK asks government to declare emergency, seeks international support

Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, commenting on the disaster situation in the country, requested the government to declare an emergency and seek support from international agencies to respond to the crisis.

In a video message, she said Sri Lanka could handle a disaster situation of this nature on its own; therefore, international support should be sought.

Yes Madam you are right in this statement: we have been badly hit by this cyclone so it is very much sensible to seek international support and assistance: this is beyond our limits and limitations: Who know what damage has been done for our crops and paddy fields and next 6 months is be very difficult so better to ask some help and support now rather than later: it makes sense

There is no necessity to declare emergency. This kind of climate destructions will happen from time to time and it is the strength of the country to come out of it without unnecessary astringents and strictures. Foreign governments will provide assistance and we Sri Lankans should know to pick up from there. Didn't we rise up from a bigger disaster caused by Politicians bankrupting this Nation?
