Colombo, Nov. 5 (Daily Mirror) - All hired and private three-wheelers, including those used by estate workers in Bhagwanthalawa, were registered and issued special identification stickers at the Bhagwanthalawa Police Station on November 5.

The initiative is part of a nationwide programme introduced by the Police Headquarters to help easily identify three-wheelers involved in criminal activities and improve public safety.

Each sticker, costing Rs. 200, was obtained through contributions collected by Bhagwanthalawa Police officers, who coordinated the registration and tagging process.

Police said the measure aims to reduce rising crime rates in the area by ensuring all three-wheelers operating in and around the town can be readily traced and verified.

Every profession has been regulated in many countries: we are living in in a different world that world is very much interconnected , virtually controlled and connected: so each driver must be monitored and connected to our police or security forces: I don’t care what they say about it but they are using public to make a living so public must be protected so , our minister for transport must come up with some code of conduct for drivers in public service such as taxi driver , tuk tuks drivers and other school drivers or any one hires vehicles must be licensed and certified and registered, it is duty and responsibility of the government to do this. Unless they do this , criminals can do all kinds of crime using these vehicles: I do support those drivers but they must be registered and regulated by code of conduct in the safety of public : How many people have been killed by using these vehicles? How many thefts are done by this method of using these drivers? How many shootings are

Good work , stickers can forge. Add a biometric base external device to unlock three wheeler. Person inside the three wheeler is probing the activity not by the three wheeler.

this type of identity should also be introduced in most of the govt institutions to identify the individual for easy identification by number and a separate register to enter the employees number when leaving the department during duty hours The armed services have this rule why not all govt. employees. e.g. in a hospital it is difficult to identifiy a doctor without his professional coat while most of the attendants are seen wearing this type of coat often carrying a pink file misleading the public some are seen wearing the operation room coat and plastic hygienic cap with no identity number. The number must coincide with the dept he is assigned to So far the employees have only the IN/OUT digital device to record their working hours For absolute confusion one has only to walk into the Income Tax Dept

come on, upgrade to qr codes and digitalize all, we got loads of computer science grads and AI tools freely available, ramp up to current years stop using these round old school stickers like back in the 80s 90s, we have enough brains in the country let them start to resolve issues in the modern world, get uni students to compete, award them, even Indians ramp up all digital quite fast, also make sure to have validity, anyone can copy and paste a sticker, we lankans are famous in advertising and printing
