March 23 (Daily Mirror) - The Australian High Commissioner noted that there are close relations between Australia and Sri Lanka in both the field of education and in the sport of cricket, during a meeting at the Presidential Secretariat this morning (23).
The meeting between Chief of Staff to the President Prabath Chandrakeerthi and Australian High Commissioner Matthew Duckworth focused on strengthening long-standing bilateral relations.
Discussions centred on education and employment opportunities for Sri Lankans in Australia, while both sides also reaffirmed their commitment to combat human smuggling and drug trafficking in the Indian Ocean region.
The High Commissioner said Australia is ready to support Sri Lanka in sectors including education, agriculture and sustainable development, and noted that the Middle East conflict has also impacted Australia.
