Army tip-off leads to Rs. 5M illegal beedi leaves seizure

Colombo , Feb 19 (Daily Mirror) - Based on information provided by the Army Intelligence Unit, Navy officers conducted raids in Karukapane, Puttalam, leading to the arrest of two suspects and the seizure of a large stock of illegal beedi leaves.

During the coordinated operations carried out at two separate locations, officers recovered 1,165 kilograms of beedi leaves. The seized stock is estimated to be worth nearly Rs. 5 million.

The suspects were taken into custody at the scene, and the confiscated goods were handed over to the relevant authorities.
