Applications for 2026 GCE O/L exam open until July 23



Colombo, July 4 (Daily Mirror) - The Examinations Department has called for applications for the 2026 General Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level) Examination, with the online application process open from July 3 to July 23, 2026.

Commissioner General of Examinations A.K.S. Indika Kumari Liyanage said school candidates must submit their applications online through their respective school principals, while private candidates are required to submit their applications individually in accordance with the prescribed instructions.

Private applicants must apply using their National Identity Card (NIC). Those who do not possess an NIC may register using their guardian's National Identity Card, the Commissioner General said.

Candidates are advised to carefully read the instructions available on the Department of Examinations' official websites before submitting their applications. Applicants should also obtain and retain a printed copy of the submitted application for future reference. Usernames and passwords required for school applications have already been issued to school principals.

The Department said that applications will not be accepted after 12.00 midnight on July 23, 2026, and the deadline will not be extended under any circumstances.
